Live-Action Cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender Is Finally Revealed, and It Features PREY's Amber Midthunder
Here's some great news regarding Avatar: The Last Airbender: Netflix has just announced the rest of the supporting cast, which includes Amber Midthunder, Danny Pudi, and George Takei (yes, the George Takei, from Star Trek)!
After revealing that Gordon Cormier would play Aang, Kiawentiio would play Katara, Ian Ousley would play Sokka, and Dallas Liu would play Zuko, Netflix has now revealed the rest of the live-action cast for Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Twenty intriguing new cast members, including Prey actress Amber Midthunder and Star Trek great George Takei, have joined the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads to round out the ensemble.
The showrunner, Albert Kim, has described this version of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is based on the Nickelodeon cartoon series of the same name, as "an opportunity to portray Asian and Indigenous characters as multidimensional individuals. Unlike in a cartoon, this is a real world with many similarities to our own." HOT RIGHT NOW
As for the rest of the cast, we already know that Elizabeth Yu will play Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee will play Iroh, Daniel Dae Kim will play Fire Lord Ozai, Maria Zhang will play Suki, Tamlyn Tomita will play Yukari, Yvonne Chapman will play Avatar Kyoshi, and Casey Camp-Horinek will play Aang (Gran Gran).
Princess Yue, played by Amber Midthunder, is the spiritual leader and a kind person of the Northern Water Tribe.
Pakku, played by A. Martinez, is the Northern Water Tribe's waterbending master and a strong protector of the tribe's customs.
Irene Bedard is Yagoda, a compassionate healer and an inspiration to the female waterbenders of her tribe.
Hahn, played by Joel Oulette, is a powerful and talented warrior who has unquestioning commitment to his tribe.
Chief Arnook, Nathaniel Arcand's character, is the father of Princess Yue and the tribal leader.
Meegwun Fairbrother, playing the role of Avatar Kuruk, is a former Avatar with a troubled history.
Kingdom of Earth
Actress Arden Cho plays June, a tenacious bounty hunter with a reputation for cold efficiency.
Utkarsh Ambudkar plays King Bumi, the venerable and capricious monarch of the city of Omashu in the Earth Kingdom.
The Mechanist, played by Danny Pudi, is an eccentric inventor and engineer trying to bring up his kid in a post-apocalyptic world.
As Teo, River Chauhan brings to life the idealistic and soaring son of the Mechanist.
A harried vegetable dealer in Omashu, played by James Sie, named the Cabbage Merchant.
Those of the Burning Country
Princess Azula's best friend Ty Lee is portrayed by Momona Tamada, who is described as "energetic and enthusiastic."
Mai, played by Thalia Tran, is a cool and collected youngster who, along with Ty Lee, is one of Princess Azula's most trusted friends.
Lt. Jee, the first officer on Prince Zuko's ship, is played by Ruy Iskandar.
Fire Lord Sozin, played by Hiro Kanagawa, is the vicious and ambitious grandfather of Fire Lord Ozai and the former king of the Fire Nation.
Roku, the former Avatar of the Fire Nation, was portrayed by C.S. Lee. He was a knowledgeable and good man.
The revered spiritual leader of the Fire Nation and keeper of Avatar Roku's shrine, François Chau plays the role of The Great Sage.
Lt. Dang, Commander Zhao's second-in-command, is played by Ryan Mah.
Spirit World
An ancient, carnivorous ghost named Koh, spoken by George Takei.
Voice actor Randall Duk Kim's thoughts on playing Wan Shi Tong: The Spirit of Knowledge, who takes the appearance of a gigantic owl.
